#10 Can you tell me 10 words that you’d use to describe the world

This is blog #10, the final blog,  of our 10 reasons blog campaign! As we promised 1 blog per day for the next 10 days, each giving one reason why people should get involved with Oxjam, from Lindsey and Ewan’s point of view.

Reason #10 We’re Skint, They’re Skinter.

That’s it, reason #10, and our final reason to get involved with Oxjam.  All over the world, people are feeling the affect of the current ‘economic situation’, but people in Britain are still better off than others in the world.  As you can see from the map below we’re in a better situation!

Blue means high income and yellow means low income.

The cost of living in Britain is quite high this means that 5 quid doesn’t get you a lot here, but it certainly does a lot in Africa!

10 words we’d use to describe the world:

It’s very unbalanced and we should all sort it out.

How does Oxjam help everyone?

Oxjam events are not for profit; Volunteers run the event and artists play for free!  Resulting in a very low cost ticket price for everyone! And, of course, with the added bonus of raising money to help out others and watching some of the best music talent in the area!

10 words we’d use to describe Oxjam:

A fantastic idea created by Oxfam. Local music, global impact.

So what are Oxjam WSTS doing about it?

We’re planning to provide everyone with a great mini festival experience at a very low cost because all of us, we’re skint.

We’re raising money for Africa, the proceeds go to Oxfam. We’re Skint, They’re Skinter.

10 words we’d use to describe our event:

Oxjam We’re Skint, They’re Skinter – A festival for a fiver.

That’s right. A. Festival. For. A. Fiver.

Tell everyone you know!

#9 All part of this great nation

This is blog #9 of our 10 reasons blog campaign! As we promised 1 blog per day for the next 10 days, each giving one reason why people should get involved with Oxjam, from Lindsey and Ewan’s point of view.

Reason #9 It’s all about a festival in October!

Lots of people are buzzing after attending some of the UK biggest festivals and can’t wait to get tickets for their next festival!  Are you one of these people?  The great thing about Oxjam is that it runs in October, you won’t have to wait to the next year to attend your next festival, you can buy a ticket for Oxjam!

Oxjam is the UK biggest music festival showcasing some of the best local talent.  These artists are the future headliners of festivals like V, T in the Park, Download, etc.   Buying a ticket for Oxjam means you are at an intimate gig and see a close up performance of these future headliners. You don’t get that at a normally festival!

Check out your local oxjam event here.

#8 Because of reason #8… you will have to make up the lyrics!

This is blog #8 of our 10 reasons blog campaign! As we promised 1 blog per day for the next 10 days, each giving one reason why people should get involved with Oxjam, from Lindsey and Ewan’s point of view.

So number 8 blog on the 10 blogs, 10 reasons, 10 songs, 10 days…only 2 to go after this one!

Reason #8 It’s all about creativity!

Being part of an Oxjam event is all about creativity.  Creativity is key to providing any unique, outstanding and unforgettable event, and this’s what all Oxjam event organisers aim to do.

Have you ever thought about running your own gig, charity fundraiser, big party, wee festival, market or other interesting event?

Yes?

Then Oxjam is the perfect opportunity for you!  Get involved by running your own event and putting your ideas into action! Or, if you would like some experience first, get in contact with your local event organiser and help out at their event! If you help the team before the event, you might even see your ideas being used!

No?

If you haven’t thought about running your own event but are now thinking of ideas!  Then see what Oxjam events are being planned in your area and get involved!
